💚
Looking after a club means protecting the people, culture and energy that keep it going.
A healthy club feels welcoming, shared and sustainable—not dependent on one exhausted person.

Protect the Culture
Keep returning to the basics:
- Welcome people without judgement.
- Make slower, newer and less confident members feel equally important.
- Challenge cliques, exclusion or behaviour that undermines others.
- Keep humour kind and never at someone else’s expense.
Clubs can feel different locally, but every SRC club should feel safe, relaxed and welcoming.
Notice Changes Early
Pay attention when:
- Regular members or volunteers quietly disappear.
- The same people carry most of the work.
- Sessions feel less welcoming or more divided.
- Communication becomes negative, confusing or dominated by conflict.
- Attendance changes significantly without an obvious reason.
Do not overreact to one difficult week. Check in, listen and address small issues before they become bigger ones.
Look After Your Volunteers
Share responsibility and make it normal for people to say no, change roles or take a break.
Ask occasionally:
- Is the workload still manageable?
